2018/19 Programmes Open for Application from 7 December
Hong Kong Community College (HKCC), an educational unit of the PolyU-affiliated College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE), announced that its Associate Degree (AD) and Higher Diploma (HD) programmes for the 2018/19 academic year will be open for application starting 7 December 2017. Candidates sitting the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (DSE) in 2018 (including re-takers) should apply via the Education Bureau’s Electronic Advance Application System for Post-secondary Programmes (E-APP) at www.eapp.gov.hk; other applicants should apply via the HKCC’s admissions website (OAA) at www.hkcc-polyu.edu.hk/hkccoaa.

First Round of “Conditional Offers” to be Issued in February 2018

Applicants who apply for HKCC’s programmes on or before 9 January 2018 may be granted a “Conditional Offer” as early as February, after which they could focus on their exam preparation.

Applicants can choose three choices from HKCC’s 34 AD and HD programmes which span the domains of arts, science, social sciences, business and the specialised areas of design and health studies. Besides, two new programmes, namely the Associate in English for Professional Communication and the Associate in Chinese Language and Literature, will be offered in the new academic year so as to cater for students’ interests and enhance their articulation opportunities.

Getting a UGC Degree in Four Years via the Non-JUPAS route

According to the HKCC 2017 Graduate Survey, a total of 2,191 graduates articulated to bachelor’s degree programmes, representing a high articulation rate of 87.5%. What’s more, the number of articulated graduates being admitted to bachelor’s degree programmes offered by the eight UGC-funded local universities was 1,322 (60.3%). Among them, 1,041 (47.5%) were admitted to UGC-funded senior year places – a record high. This is solid proof that HKDSE candidates may also get a UGC bachelor’s degree in four years via the Non-JUPAS route. For more details about the graduate survey, please visit www.hkcc-polyu.edu.hk/articulation.

From the first cohort of graduates in 2003 to those in 2017, about 23,000 HKCC graduates have articulated into bachelor’s degree studies. This represents a 15-year average articulation rate of over 80%, which speaks volumes about the ability of HKCC students.
